How Thoughts Shape Our Performance!

Without delving into anything overly spiritual or esoteric, I’d like you to consider that everything in the universe is made up of energy. Everything! And while science confirms that solid matter is ultimately energy, it’s also true for something less tangible – our thoughts!

This short article explores how your thinking influences your performance, success and even overall well-being. And if you’re currently not satisfied with one or all of these, you can change this right now to get better results.

First take-away: Your Thoughts Create Your Reality

Your internal dialogue, also known as self-talk, is the driving force behind every decision you make. Whether positive or negative your thoughts shape your actions and ultimately, your outcomes.

As Henry Ford famously said, “Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right.”

It’s the truth. If you’re not seeing the results you want whether in general daily life or work, it’s a good time to examine the quality of your thinking.

Positive Thinking Fuels Peak Performance

In my personal experience, every major breakthrough or achievement happened when I was operating from a place of optimism and good energy. A positive attitude creates momentum and sparks confidence. And most importantly, it puts you in the right frame of mind to take action and persevere.

If you want to achieve high performance in whatever you do, you need to fuel your brain with thoughts that support and empower you.

Energy Is Contagious

The saying “birds of a feather flock together” holds profound truth when it comes to personal energy. If you’re surrounded by negativity, it’s only a matter of time before it wears you down. No matter how positive your intentions are, your environment influences your mindset.

As a musician, any band I’ve played in that has positively fueled my enthusiasm has pushed me to be better. I’ve enjoyed these situations immensely and always experienced great results. On the other hand and when in negative situations, I’ve never lasted long, choosing rather to leave than be dragged down by the gloom-ridden vibes around me.

So, want to raise your frequency? Spend time with motivated and positive individuals. Their mindset will naturally influence yours. That’s why “like minds think alike” and why you should consciously choose who you surround yourself with.

You Can Positively Impact Your Life

The best news is that your mindset is not fixed. If you tend to see the glass as half empty, you’re not alone as half the earths population thinks like this. But that doesn’t mean you’re stuck with that outlook. You can train your mind to think differently.

Start by asking yourself:

“Are my thoughts supporting my goals?”

“Do my thoughts lift me up or hold me back?”

“Do my thoughts make me feel good or bad?”

Even small shifts in thinking can create powerful changes in your performance and daily life. For me, this shift helped me overcome a debilitating stutter that adversely affected the quality of my life for many, many years. Since conquering this, I’ve given radio and TV interviews, spoken in front of small to large groups, and operated as an indemand teacher and mentor. I’m living proof that “anything is possible to a willing mind”!

Don’t just take my word for it. Country music superstar Willie Nelson wisely said: “Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.”
