The Voros Theory of Relativity

A homeless guy watches a car on its last legs drive past. He’d take it in a heartbeat, even just for shelter.

The driver of that clapped-out car sees a 10-year-old car in decent shape go by. Wishes it was his.

The guy in the 10-year-old car sighs at a new modest hatchback. That driver watches a BMW steam past – he shouts “I’d love that!” The BMW driver sees an Aston Martin and thinks “one day…”

And so it goes on.

Elon Musk just became a trillionaire. I genuinely can’t get my head around that kind of money as it’s just not in my world. But Jeff Bezos probably can.

Everything is relative. And if we’re honest, none of us are ever quite satisfied with what we have. We always want a little more, sometimes a lot more.

I’ve learned to keep myself in check with that. I have goals like everyone else, but I use a ‘ladder approach’: one rung at a time… progressively.

I’m actually in the middle of something right now that’ll reveal itself in stages. It’s exciting as it unfolds.

Be realistic about where you are right now. Get clear on where you want to be. Then set yourself short, manageable steps to get there.

Simple as that, really.

Good luck.
